Elizabeth Elias from Namibia is currently completing her PhD in Management Studies, whilst lecturing at the International University of Management (IUM) in Namibia. She also holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the Cavendish University of Zambia, a Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education from the University of Namibia, and a Bachelor’s degree from IUM.
Elizabeth has been the recipient of the Chinese Government Scholarship to pursue her PhD studies.
She joined the Africademics Scholarship Ambassador Programme because she would like to learn how to help students secure the necessary funding to pursue their own post-graduate studies, and depopularise the belief held in her country that one degree is enough.
In 10 years’ time, Elizabeth hopes to be a PhD holder and impactful lecturer, as well as open a foundation that will provide funds for the less fortunate to go study and increase their level of expertise.
Something people might not know about Elizabeth is that she is a soccer player (when she is not busy lecturing or studying).
Welcome to the Africademics Ambassador Programme, Elizabeth!
The Scholarship Ambassador Programme
Through the Scholarship Ambassador Programme Africademics trains volunteers from across Africa to become scholarship advisors and mentors. Ambassadors complete a 4-month online course with virtual lectures, case studies and additional activities. Once they have successfully graduated, our Scholarship Ambassadors offer personal support, advice and mentorship for scholarship seekers and applicants in and from Africa.
Our 2022 Ambassador cohort started their training in April 2022 and we are thrilled to have over 90 students and scholars from across the African continent on board this year. In 2021, we welcomed our first cohort of 30 Scholarship Ambassadors who completed their training in November 2021. They now offer free scholarship consultations, mentorship and application assistance for scholarship seekers in and from Africa on a regular basis.
