Idene-Flore Mantho Tidjio from Cameroon recently completed her PhD in Earth Atmospheric Sciences on a DAAD scholarship at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany and the University of Yaoundé I in Cameroon. Before embarking on her doctoral studies she completed her Master’s degree in Meteorology at the University of Yaoundé I.
Idene-Flore feels very privileged and grateful to have been awarded the DAAD scholarship and for all the additional benefits she has received from living abroad. She would like to use her experience and help give the same opportunity to her fellow Africans by becoming an Africademics Scholarship Ambassador.
She dreams of a world were Africans works towards achieving sustainable development goals and believes that meeting and learning from different people from all around the world will help them achieve this. In 10 years’ time she sees herself as a Professor in Meteorology, having supervised at least 10 Masters and PhD students, having helped at least 20 Africans to obtain scholarships, also faithfully serving God and creating structures to help those who ask for to find a spiritual purpose for their lives and being married with two sets of twins.
Something that people don’t know about Idene-Flore is that she has spent two summers trying to learn how to swim, but unfortunately, she has not managed it yet.
Welcome to the Africademics Ambassador Programme, Idene-Flore!
The Scholarship Ambassador Programme
Through the Scholarship Ambassador Programme Africademics trains volunteers from across Africa to become scholarship advisors and mentors. Ambassadors complete a 4-month online course with virtual lectures, case studies and additional activities. Once they have successfully graduated, our Scholarship Ambassadors offer personal support, advice and mentorship for scholarship seekers and applicants in and from Africa.
Our 2022 Ambassador cohort started their training in April 2022 and we are thrilled to have over 90 students and scholars from across the African continent on board this year. In 2021, we welcomed our first cohort of 30 Scholarship Ambassadors who completed their training in November 2021. They now offer free scholarship consultations, mentorship and application assistance for scholarship seekers in and from Africa on a regular basis.
Meet our team of Scholarship Ambassadors here and let us know via our contact form if you would like to book a personal consultation with one of them!
