Ernest Kahia Wangui from Kenya is currently working as a project leader at Boehringer Ingelheim in Germany, facilitated by his receipt of the AFRIKA KOMMT! Fellowship that brings together the most visionary young leaders from Africa and leading German companies.
Ernest holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Moi University in Kenya, as well as a PRINCE2 Agile® Practitioner certificate in Agile Project Management and a PRINCE2® Foundation certificate in Project Management from PeopleCert in the United Kingdom.
Ernest joined the Africademics Scholarship Ambassador Programme because of his journey in the Afrika Kommt! fellowship program has been life-transforming and he would like for other Africans to have the same experience. He also would like to be an agent of change for Africa and believes this would be his way of giving back to his motherland in a small way but that has a big impact.
In the next ten years, Ernest plans to have set up an IT consulting business that will be providing solutions touching on the provision of cloud computing services, IT Project management and risk management as well as network management to businesses locally, and to partner with global companies to package his services for the global market.
Welcome to the Africademics Ambassador Programme, Ernest!
The Scholarship Ambassador Programme
Through the Scholarship Ambassador Programme Africademics trains volunteers from across Africa to become scholarship advisors and mentors. Ambassadors complete a 4-month online course with virtual lectures, case studies and additional activities. Once they have successfully graduated, our Scholarship Ambassadors offer personal support, advice and mentorship for scholarship seekers and applicants in and from Africa.
Our 2022 Ambassador cohort started their training in April 2022 and we are thrilled to have over 90 students and scholars from across the African continent on board this year. In 2021, we welcomed our first cohort of 30 Scholarship Ambassadors who completed their training in November 2021. They now offer free scholarship consultations, mentorship and application assistance for scholarship seekers in and from Africa on a regular basis.
Meet our team of Scholarship Ambassadors here and let us know via our contact form if you would like to book a personal consultation with one of them!
