Endeshaw Alemu Bekele from Ethiopia is 28 years old and lives in Gliwice, Poland. He is currently completing his PhD in Sustainable Energy Engineering at the Silesian University of Technology and holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree from Jimma University, as well as a First Leve Specializing Master’s from the Politecnico di Milano, Italy.
Please tell us a bit about yourself!
I am a committed and enthusiastic young professional who thrives both independently and in teams. I have a great work ethic and am eager to embark on a new journey. I aspire to continue my research on clean, affordable, and sustainable energy, and to complete my PhD in Hydrogen Combustion.
Which scholarships or fellowships have you received?
I received the Italian Higher Education in Africa (IHEA) Foundation scholarship for my Master’s studies in Italy in 2022, and am currently in receipt of a fully-funded PhD Scholarship for my PhD studies at the Silesian University of Technology in Poland.
How did you experience the Africademics Scholarship Ambassador Programme?
I joined the programme because I am passionate about empowering individuals in Africa to access educational opportunities. I believe that serving as an Africademics Scholarship Ambassador will allow me to inspire, guide, and support fellow Africans in securing scholarships for a brighter future.
The most valuable insight gained from the 2023 Ambassador Programme was the profound impact of Positive Psychology in fostering a resilient and focused mindset. This was coupled with the comprehensive Ambassador training that equipped me with the essential skills to guide mentees through every step of the scholarship process, from document preparation to procedural navigation, ultimately enhancing their chances of success.
During my tenure as a scholarship mentor, I had the privilege of guiding a dedicated and determined mentee with a background in materials engineering. Together, we worked on an intensive journey to find MSc scholarships, focusing on his field of interest.
We primarily dedicated our collaborative efforts to conducting thorough scholarship searches and meticulously crafting the requisite application documents, notably enhancing his chances of obtaining the financial support required to fulfill his academic ambitions.
