Applications for the 2023 round of our Scholarship Mentoring Programme are closed!
We received a whopping 1,450 applications for this year’s round of our Scholarship Mentoring Programme and are currently busy reviewing the applications. All applicants have received a confirmation email with detailed instructions regarding the next steps. So please keep an eye on your inbox and don’t forget to check your spam folder if you haven’t heard from us by Wednesday, 02 August 2023!
If you have applied for participation in our Scholarship Mentoring Programme, please remember to complete your profile on our online learning and community platform, and to formally apply for Mentee status via the ‘apply’ section in your profile. Once your application has been approved, you will need to change your profile visibility to ‘public’ in order for our Scholarship Ambassadors to see your profile and to select you as a mentee.
Last but not least, prospective Scholarship Mentees are required to complete the ‘Positive Psychology for Scholarship Seekers and Applicants’ online course, which you can find on our platform. The course is free and consists of two video workshops with corresponding quizzes and optional exercises that will prepare you for your mentoring journey. If you are struggling to access the course on our platform, you can also watch the course videos here.
Important to know…
All consultations will take place virtually, i.e. via email, video call, messenger, or other suitable means of communication. Africademics will facilitate the initial contact with your Ambassador who will then schedule a call or email consultation with you. Your Ambassador will be there to advise and support you for a period of at least three months after your first consultation.
Please note that participation in our Scholarship Mentoring Programme does not guarantee you a scholarship. The purpose of the programme is to assist you in finding the right scholarship or fellowship, and to offer support and feedback on your scholarship application. Our Ambassadors will not do the hard work for you – their role is to guide and support you and to assist you in your personal scholarship journey to the best of their ability.
Please also keep in mind that Africademics does not award scholarships or funding – our aim is to offer support and information for scholarship seekers and applicants. Our Ambassadors are volunteers who offer their services for free and in their spare time. So please be considerate and respectful of the support they provide.
We look forward to another exciting and fruitful mentoring cycle!
