What is the Africademics Scholarship MOOC?
The course was created specifically for students, graduates and young professionals in and from Africa, but most of the information we provide is equally applicable to scholarship seekers and applicants from other parts of the world. What will I learn in the course?
Module 1 (the first six episodes) provides an introduction to the different types of scholarships and funding programmes available, ranging from undergraduate scholarships to travel grants and academic competitions.
Module 2, which will be added shortly, will show you where to find reliable and accurate scholarship information, and explains different strategies for staying up to date with the latest opportunities.
Module 3 will unpack the eligibility criteria for different types of scholarships and explains the difference between ‘soft’ and ‘hard’ application criteria.
Module 4 will explore the pros, cons and practicalities of studying abroad and discusses what you should consider as a prospective international student.
Module 5 will provide an overview of the application process for scholarships, including the timeline, considerations and practical tips and tricks.
Module 6 will take a closer look at the typical application documents for scholarships and teaches you how to prepare them.
