The participants of our 2022 cohort of Africademics Scholarship Ambassadors have officially completed their 5-month virtual training programme and we are incredibly proud of their achievements!
The 2022 Scholarship Ambassador Programme
When we opened the application period for the 2022 round of our Africademics Scholarship Ambassador Programme in March 2022, over 300 highly qualified students, scholars, researchers and scholarship alumni in and from Africa submitted their applications. We were so overwhelmed and impressed by the response to our call for applications that we decided to increase the number of participants from 30 to a whopping 95!
We could not have made a better decision as our new Ambassadors set to work with an incredible amount of energy, motivation and dedication. From April to August they completed a series of seven intensive virtual workshops, covering various aspects of the scholarship search and application process. Additional modules focused on studying abroad, as well as mentoring skills.
In addition to their formal course curriculum, our Ambassadors participated in various additional projects. These included a collection of study abroad and scholarship experiences (which will be published next year) and a series of handbooks on study and scholarship opportunities in various countries across the world.
Having finished the 4-month coursework component of their Ambassador training, our participants embarked on their final graduation project: A personal 2-month mentoring journey with a scholarship seeker or applicant from the Africademics community. Over 700 of our community members applied for one of the mentee positions and the lucky winners started their mentoring programme in September. Two months later, several of them have already obtained their dream scholarships, or have made significant progress in finding and/or applying for suitable funding opportunities!
We are incredibly proud of each and every one of the 75 Ambassadors who successfully completed the programme and who will continue to offer support, advice and mentoring to scholarship seekers and applicants from across Africa.
