Everlyne M’mbone Muleke from Kenya is a Lecturer in the Department of Agriculture and Land Use Management at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology in Kenya. She holds a PhD in Horticulture from Nanjing Agricultural University in China, and a Master’s degree in Horticulture from Egerton University in Kenya.
Everlyne has previously been funded by the Horticulture Collaborative Research Support Program and the Chinese Government Scholarship. She was motivated to join the Africademics Scholarship Ambassador programme because she has gained vast experience and confidence through her academic journey, having started with a certificate, to diploma, to Bachelor’s, Master and eventually PhD level.
Through this journey, she has met individuals who have held her hand, listened, offered support and most importantly, motivated and inspired her. She therefore not only understands the importance of being mentored but has also evolved into an outstanding mentor and motivator herself. She believes that Africademics gives her the opportunity to give back what was also given to her, and she would like to inspire future ambassadors too.
In 10 years’ time, Everlyne plans to be an accomplished and renowned crop scientist, and a leader in higher education or research, who will have mentored a class of highly qualified and influential academic professionals. A fun fact about Everlyne is that she always runs outside when it starts raining and gets rained on deliberately because she finds it refreshing.
Welcome to the Africademics Ambassador Programme, Everlyne!
The Scholarship Ambassador Programme
Through the Scholarship Ambassador Programme Africademics trains volunteers from across Africa to become scholarship advisors and mentors. Ambassadors complete a 4-month online course with virtual lectures, case studies and additional activities. Once they have successfully graduated, our Scholarship Ambassadors offer personal support, advice and mentorship for scholarship seekers and applicants in and from Africa.
Our 2022 Ambassador cohort started their training in April 2022 and we are thrilled to have over 90 students and scholars from across the African continent on board this year. In 2021, we welcomed our first cohort of 30 Scholarship Ambassadors who completed their training in November 2021. They now offer free scholarship consultations, mentorship and application assistance for scholarship seekers in and from Africa on a regular basis.
Meet our team of Scholarship Ambassadors here and let us know via our contact form if you would like to book a personal consultation with one of them!
