Rosalia Sinvula from Namibia works as an Engineer and Project Manager at the NamPower Transmission Capital Projects, as well as Co-Founder and Vice-Chair of the Namibia Women in Engineering Association. She holds a PhD and Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) in Cape Town, South Africa.
Rosalia has been the recipient of the Mwalimu Nyerere African Union Scholarship. She also serves as a member of various local and international bodies such as the Advisory Board for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at NUST, AD-HOC Bid Evaluation Committee at NamPower, Integrated Management System Implementation Team, and Associate reviewer for AIUE 2nd EHH conference, and others.
Rosalia joined the Africademics Scholarship Ambassador Programme because she would like to assist Namibian and other students from the African continent to secure scholarships, as most engineering students in her country drop out because of financial challenges. She would also like to use the knowledge and skills gained as an Ambassador to share information on her Namibia Women in Engineering Association platforms.
Ten years from now, Rosalia aims to head a research centre in Namibia that will offer solutions to academics and industries which are in collaboration, be a university professor in Namibia and be a public speaker inspiring and motivating the youth.
Welcome to the Africademics Ambassador Programme, Rosalia!
The Scholarship Ambassador Programme
Through the Scholarship Ambassador Programme Africademics trains volunteers from across Africa to become scholarship advisors and mentors. Ambassadors complete a 4-month online course with virtual lectures, case studies and additional activities. Once they have successfully graduated, our Scholarship Ambassadors offer personal support, advice and mentorship for scholarship seekers and applicants in and from Africa.
Our 2022 Ambassador cohort started their training in April 2022 and we are thrilled to have over 90 students and scholars from across the African continent on board this year. In 2021, we welcomed our first cohort of 30 Scholarship Ambassadors who completed their training in November 2021. They now offer free scholarship consultations, mentorship and application assistance for scholarship seekers in and from Africa on a regular basis.
Meet our team of Scholarship Ambassadors here and let us know via our contact form if you would like to book a personal consultation with one of them!
