Laure Lysette Chimi Nkombo from Cameroon is a Research Officer at the Institute of Agricultural Research for Development (IRAD) in Cameroon. Laure holds two Master’s degrees, one in Chemical Engineering, majoring in Integrated Chemical and Environmental Technology in South Korea from the Hankyong National University. Her second Master’s degree is in Biochemistry majoring in Microbiology and was obtained from the University of Yaoundé in Cameroon.
She has received various scholarships, namely the KOICA MSc Scholarship to complete her Master’s degree in South Korea, the VLIR-UOS Scholarship to participate in the International Training Programme (ITP) on modern breeding techniques of maize in Belgium-Ghent, the CLIFF-GRADS grant program Round 4 to conduct research at the University of Massey in New Zealand, as well as a scholarship from the Early Career Fund for Sustainability Research and Innovation (SRI) to attend their 2021 Congress.
Laure Lysette would like to use the experience and knowledge that she gained as a multiple scholarship awardee, to help others who are seeking funding, and in doing so, bring hope to African countries. She believes that being an Africademics Scholarship Ambassador will help her do so.
In ten years’ time, Laure hopes to have a PhD and travel the world to impact the youth, as well as start her own foundation that develops and empowers African women.
Welcome to the Africademics Ambassador Programme, Laure Lysette!
The Scholarship Ambassador Programme
Through the Scholarship Ambassador Programme Africademics trains volunteers from across Africa to become scholarship advisors and mentors. Ambassadors complete a 4-month online course with virtual lectures, case studies and additional activities. Once they have successfully graduated, our Scholarship Ambassadors offer personal support, advice and mentorship for scholarship seekers and applicants in and from Africa.
Our 2022 Ambassador cohort started their training in April 2022 and we are thrilled to have over 90 students and scholars from across the African continent on board this year. In 2021, we welcomed our first cohort of 30 Scholarship Ambassadors who completed their training in November 2021. They now offer free scholarship consultations, mentorship and application assistance for scholarship seekers in and from Africa on a regular basis.
Meet our team of Scholarship Ambassadors here and let us know via our contact form if you would like to book a personal consultation with one of them!
