Sign up now: Scholarship Mentoring 2024!

Are you a student, graduate or young scholar from an African country? Do you need help in finding and applying for a scholarship? Have you previously registered for our Scholarship Mentoring Programme but did not get selected? This is your opportunity to re-apply!

The 2024 round of our Scholarship Mentoring Programme will be open exclusively for participants who have previously registered on our online learning and community platform. All you need to do to participate in this year’s programme is to follow these four simple steps:

  1. Update your profile: Log into our online platform and update your user profile with your latest achievements, contact details and social media links.
  2. Mentee status: Make sure your profile has been confirmed for Mentee status which is indicated by the small ‘Mentee’ badge on your main profile page (if not, you can apply to become a mentee in the ‘Apply’ tab of your profile).
  3. Profile visibility: Make sure your profile visibility is set to ‘public’ via the red button on your main profile page, otherwise our Ambassadors will not be able to see your profile.
  4. Confirm via email: Once you have completed these steps, send us an email to info@africademics.com and confirm that you have updated your profile no later than 10 July 2024!

How does the Scholarship Mentoring Programme work?

Our Scholarship Mentoring Programme offers personal guidance and support for scholarship seekers and applicants in and from Africa. Scholarship Mentees are matched with one of our Scholarship Ambassadors, who will then mentor them for a period of at least 3 months.

Please note that participation in our Scholarship Mentoring Programme does not guarantee you a scholarship! The purpose of the programme is to assist you in finding the right scholarship or fellowship, and to offer support and feedback on your scholarship application.

Please also keep in mind that Africademics does not award scholarships or funding – our aim is to offer support and information for scholarship seekers and applicants. We have no influence on the award of a particular scholarship or fellowship – we can merely advise you on how to find a suitable scholarship, and to prepare a strong scholarship application.

Last but not least, please remember that our Scholarship Ambassadors are volunteers who offer their services for free and in their spare time. So please be considerate and respectful of the support they provide, and please honour their commitment by being a pro-active participant in our programme!

NB: Please note that the number of applications we receive is usually much higher than the number of Scholarship Ambassadors who are available for consultations and mentoring. It is therefore important to keep in mind that signing up for the programme does not guarantee that a mentor will be available to assist you. As much as we would love to support each and every applicant, our Ambassadors offer support on a voluntary basis, and the number of places available is therefore limited.
