Abdullahi Alaka from Nigeria is 20 years old and lives in Lagos. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Lagos State University, and currently works as a Research Analyst for Young Professionals and Emerging Leaders.
Please tell us a bit about yourself!
I am a dedicated Economist with a demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive research, formulate strategic recommendations, and present complex ideas clearly and concisely. I enjoy travelling and aim to become an expert in my field professionally and academically, and to contributing to the development of my community and the economy at large.
Which scholarships or fellowships have you received?
I received the Lagos State University Scholarship Award in 2022.
How did you experience the Africademics Scholarship Ambassador Programme?
The main driver behind my decision to apply for the Scholarship Ambassador Programme was my desire to advance myself and my community academically and professionally. In addition to the scholarship-related content, I really enjoyed the Positive Psychology workshops and tools we received.
It has been a transformative experience for me, as I have been able to understand the logic behind seeking scholarship opportunities. Besides, it is also a platform for me to propagate my knowledge to a mentee who can then start their own scholarship journey, based on my knowledge.
Why would you recommend the Scholarship Ambassador Programme to others?
Participating in the programme has been eye-opening for me, and I’m sure it will be the same experience for others!
