We are excited to announce the launch of a special collaboration with the African Federation of Optometry Students (AFOS): The joint 2025 Scholarship Ambassador Programme!
Following three successful rounds of our Scholarship Ambassador Programme, we have partnered with AFOS for a special round of the programme this year. African Optometry graduates who are members of AFOS will have the opportunity to participate in an exclusive Scholarship Ambassador training via our self-paced online learning platform and become fully-fledged scholarship mentors.
Through our Scholarship Ambassador Programme we have been training volunteers from across Africa to become scholarship advisors and mentors since 2020. Ambassadors participate in a 4-month online course with virtual lectures, case studies and additional activities. Once they have successfully graduated, they offer personal support, advice and mentorship for scholarship seekers and applicants in and from Africa.
Over 250 participants have graduated from the programme and have subsequently provided mentorship and support to scholarship seekers from across the continent.
The course consists of eight modules, each of which focuses on a specific aspect of the scholarship search, or the application process. In addition, our bonus module on Positive Psychology introduces useful tools for staying motivated, dealing with rejection, and keeping a positive mindset throughout the long and difficult process of securing a scholarship.
Applications for this year’s special round of the programme are open exclusively for active AFOS members. The call for applications has been shared via the various AFOS communication channels, so please contact AFOS if you did not receive it and would like to apply.
You can reach out to AFOS via Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram or email.
