Emelly Zandonda from Zambia is an Agribusiness Specialist, currently completing the Afrika Kommt! fellowship programme at Bayer Crop Science in Germany. She holds a Master’s degree in Project Management from the University of Lusaka. She has also worked for leading organizations such as the United Nations World Food Programme and Bayer Crop Science, and she has vast experience in the fields of Agricultural Project Management, Product Marketing, Innovations, Rural Development and Climate Smart Agriculture.
The life-changing experience of participating in the Afrika Kommt! fellowship motivated Emelly to join the Africademics Scholarship Ambassador programme. Her time in Germany helped her identify gaps and areas of improvement, not only in the Zambian Agricultural sector, and gave her the opportunity to network and share ideas with other fellows from various African countries. It is through exchanging innovative ideas that fellows plan to foster the development of the African continent.
Through her participation in the Africademics Scholarship Ambassador Programme, Emelly wishes to gain the knowledge and skills necessary for her to help others secure scholarships to participate in such life-changing experiences.
In 10 years’ time, Emelly sees herself being a renowned Agri-Food Systems Expert, offering consultancy services to other players in the sector while running her own Agribusiness company. An interesting fact about Emelly is that she has a fear of heights, but has bungee jumped three times.
Welcome to the Africademics Ambassador Programme, Emelly!
The Scholarship Ambassador Programme
Through the Scholarship Ambassador Programme Africademics trains volunteers from across Africa to become scholarship advisors and mentors. Ambassadors complete a 4-month online course with virtual lectures, case studies and additional activities. Once they have successfully graduated, our Scholarship Ambassadors offer personal support, advice and mentorship for scholarship seekers and applicants in and from Africa.
Our 2022 Ambassador cohort started their training in April 2022 and we are thrilled to have over 90 students and scholars from across the African continent on board this year. In 2021, we welcomed our first cohort of 30 Scholarship Ambassadors who completed their training in November 2021. They now offer free scholarship consultations, mentorship and application assistance for scholarship seekers in and from Africa on a regular basis.
Meet our team of Scholarship Ambassadors here and let us know via our contact form if you would like to book a personal consultation with one of them!
