The 2024/25 programme cycle will run for 12 months and consists of four inter-related course modules, delivered via virtual live sessions and additional online content.
After the kick-off meeting in July 2024, our coaching and mentoring programme will explain how the German Ausbildung system works, help you identify your career interests and strengths, select the right Ausbildung programme, connect you with suitable German companies, guide you through the application process, assist you with your visa application, and provide cultural and practical preparation for your move to Germany.
The 2024/25 programme round will be structured as follows:
February 2024: Applications for the Namibia2Germany and SA2Germany programme open.
April 2024: Applications close, participants are selected and informed.
May 2024: Successful applicants submit their German language certificate (or obtain it from the Goethe Institute).
July 2024: Virtual kick-off meeting, start of Module 1 of the programme (introduction to the German ‘Ausbildung’ system, skills evaluation and career guidance, finding the right Ausbildung programme for you).
August 2024: In Module 2, partner companies will introduce themselves, as well as the Ausbildung programmes they offer, in a series of virtual info events. You will have the opportunity to interact with partner companies, learn more about the Ausbildung programmes they offer, and speak to current and former participants of Ausbildung programmes.
September 2024: In Module 3, you will be prepared for the process of applying for your Ausbildung programme with a German company. We will help you draft your German CV and motivation letter, and support you in preparing for your application interview.
October 2024 : Once you have prepared your application documents, you will submit the application(s) for your preferred Ausbildung at selected companies in Germany. They will review your application and successful applicants will be invited to a (virtual) application interview.
January 2025: If your application for an Ausbildung was successful, Module 4 will guide you through the practical preparations for your move to Germany. This will include, most importantly, the visa application process, which can take up to 6 months to be completed.
February 2025: You submit your application for an Ausbildung visa at the German embassy in Windhoek, Johannesburg or Cape Town, supported by Africademics and our partners.
April 2025: You will be provided with practical information about life in Germany, the German culture, and the practicalities of living in Germany. Depending on the type of Ausbildung you have applied for, you might also be required to complete additional preparatory online courses.
August 2025: The long wait is finally over and you will start your journey to Germany and settle into your new home.
September 2025: Your Ausbildung starts and you will receive further support from volunteer mentors in Germany during the first months of your Ausbildung.
