Frequently Asked Questions
What will the Africademics University Ambassadors do?
Our Ambassadors will assist us in identifying scholarships and educational opportunities at their university, spread the word about Africademics, and encourage their colleagues and fellow students to join the movement.
Can I bring in my own ideas as well?
Yes, absolutely! We encourage our Ambassadors to plan and implement their own projects to improve access to funding and other opportunities at their university.
Who can become an Africademics University Ambassador?
Anyone who is a student, recent graduate, researcher, lecturer, postdoc or staff member at an African university or research institution can apply to become a University Ambassador.
What will be expected of me in terms of time and commitment?
We know you are busy with your studies and work, so you can decide how much time and effort you want to put into your position. However, all Ambassadors will be required to participate in a monthly update or meeting, which can be done via email, whatsapp or Zoom/Skype.
Will I get paid to be an Africademics University Ambassador?
Africademics is a non-profit, volunteer-driven movement and does not receive any kind of external funding. Being an Ambassador is a volunteer position and therefore not remunerated.
Will I receive a certificate or any other kind of formal recognition?
Yes, every Ambassador who has participated in the programme and made an active contribution will receive a formal certificate at the end of the first programme cycle, i.e. at the end of the current calendar year.
